Privacy Policy for Closet Replay

Last Updated: May 26, 2026

Overview

Closet Replay (“the App”) is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your wardrobe stays on your device, syncs only through your own private iCloud account, and we do not collect, track, or sell any personal information.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data.

Closet Replay has no account system and no servers of our own. All your wardrobe items, photos, outfit logs, packing lists, wishlist, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

What We Don’t Collect

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • Usage analytics or behavior tracking
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
  • Crash reports (unless you opt in via Apple)
  • Any of your wardrobe items, photos, outfits, or other content

Data Storage

Local Storage

All app data is stored exclusively on your device, including:

  • Clothing items and their details (brand, color, purchase price and date, notes, season tags, favorite and archive states)
  • Photos of your clothing items
  • Outfit logs and wear history
  • Packing lists and essentials checklists
  • Wishlist items
  • App settings and preferences

This data never leaves your device except to sync privately through your own iCloud account, as described below.

iCloud Sync

Closet Replay uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync your wardrobe privately across the Apple devices signed into your iCloud account:

  • Sync happens automatically through your own private iCloud account when you are signed into iCloud — there is no account or server of ours involved.
  • Your data is stored in your private CloudKit database, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
  • We cannot access your iCloud data.
  • If you are not signed into iCloud, or iCloud is unavailable, Closet Replay works fully offline and keeps everything in a local-only store on your device.
  • You control sync through your device’s iCloud settings — signing out of iCloud or disabling iCloud for Closet Replay keeps your data local to the device.

For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Photos and Camera

Closet Replay can use your camera and photo library so you can add images of your clothing items and build a visual wardrobe:

  • Photos you add are downsampled and stored in the app’s local database, then synced through your private iCloud account like the rest of your data.
  • The App only accesses photos you explicitly choose or capture — it never scans your photo library in the background.
  • Your photos are never uploaded to us or any third party.

Notifications

Closet Replay can send local notifications — scheduled entirely on your device — to help you wear more of what you own:

  • A weekly nudge to rediscover an item you haven’t worn in a while
  • Seasonal rotation reminders
  • Packing reminders before a trip

These notifications are generated on-device and require your permission. No notification content is sent to or through us.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Closet Replay offers an optional Closet Replay Pro upgrade (monthly, annual, or lifetime) through Apple’s in-app purchase system using StoreKit:

  • All payments and billing are handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Your purchase and subscription status is tied to your Apple ID, which lets Pro restore automatically across your devices.
  • We do not receive any personally identifying payment information from Apple.

For details, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

Closet Replay does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

The only third-party services involved are Apple’s own — CloudKit (private iCloud sync) and the App Store / StoreKit (in-app purchases) — both governed by Apple’s privacy practices.

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with anyone.

Your wardrobe, photos, outfit history, and exports remain entirely under your control. When you share or export anything from the App, only you decide where that information goes.

Data Retention

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

  • Your data persists until you delete it within the app
  • Uninstalling the app removes all local data
  • iCloud data follows Apple’s retention policies, and disabling sync removes data from iCloud while keeping local data intact

Children’s Privacy

Closet Replay does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app contains no account system, so no personal information is ever requested.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: View all your data directly in the app
  • Edit: Update or correct any item, outfit, or detail at any time
  • Delete: Delete individual items, outfits, lists, or all data from within the app
  • Portability: Your photos and details remain in standard formats on your own device and in your own iCloud account

Security

Your data is protected by:

  • Apple’s device encryption
  • Apple’s CloudKit encryption for private iCloud sync
  • A local-first design with no external servers or databases of ours
  • No third-party network transmission

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top
  • Notify users via App Store release notes for significant changes
